The best South Indian restaurants in Sydney are:
- Mani’s Kitchen (Multiple Sydney locations) – Sydney CBD, Epping and Sydney Airport T2 Domestic Terminal
Mani’s Kitchen has three Sydney locations for those who enjoy South Indian food and I’ve been to all of them and the airport one is my favorite because it’s like a little oasis away from the madness that is Sydney airport. I guarantee if you don’t arrive hungry at Sydney airport after a long flight, you will be by the time you leave its gates!
This restaurant is located near gate T4. If you’re returning home or departing internationally then this would be your gate location. It’s just right opposite the gate so it is convenient for commuters. It closes at 9 pm Sydney time though so no use visiting late or you’ll have to bring it back to your hotel.
- Naalu’s Oven (Erina Fair Sydney) – Sydney NSW Australia
I’ve been wanting to visit Sydney ever since they got the new South Indian food mall in Erina Fair called Padma City. It has a huge variety of restaurants with all kinds of cuisines available for customers. If you’re trying South Indian food for the first time then I’d say this is one of the best places because there are so many options available, each restaurant specializing in certain dishes only. The good thing about this place too is that there are vegetarian options also which you won’t find in Sydney otherwise. Naalu’s Oven is one of the restaurants at Padma City, Sydney which offers authentic South Indian food and I’ve heard that it has other branches in Sydney but I’m yet to confirm.
- Saravanaa Bhavan (Multiple Sydney locations) – Sydney CBD / Strathfield / Auburn / Liverpool
If you’re looking for South Indian vegetarian food then you cannot go past the famous Saravanaa Bhavan chain of restaurants in Sydney. There are four different locations in total across Sydney where this restaurant is available. If there are two or more of you traveling together to Sydney then make sure you visit this place because one meal will be plenty even if three or four people eat there! So tasty is the food here that everyone will be licking their fingers and asking for more! The only downside of this place is that it’s vegetarian so those who eat fish or meat will have to stick to Sydney’s South Indian restaurants.
- Raj On Taj (Redfern Sydney) – Sydney NSW Australia
I’ve been to Sydney several times now and each time I visit, somebody new recommends a restaurant to me. This happened on my last trip as well when a South Indian friend of mine said I had to check out Sydney’s best South Indian restaurant called Raj on Taj. This restaurant has got some great reviews online and is highly rated by customers which means you can’t go wrong with eating there except if you don’t like South Indian food which may be surprising to some of you because Sydney doesn’t have any good restaurants serving South Indian food. So if you’re visiting Sydney and craving some South Indian food then check this place out for sure!
- Woodlands (Multiple Sydney locations) – Sydney CBD / Sydney Airport T2 Domestic Terminal/ Erina / Aubon East
Woodlands is a Malaysian restaurant that specializes in authentic Malay and Singaporean cuisines but they also serve halal South Indian vegetarian dishes as well. This restaurant has four different locations across Sydney so it’s easy to access no matter where you are staying. I’ve been to the Sydney CBD location and the one at Sydney airport on my last trip and enjoyed both meals. I’d recommend Sydney’s Woodlands if you’re looking for South Indian food and don’t mind the taste of Malaysian and Singaporean dishes as well. Too often we tend to stick to eating only at restaurants that serve cuisines from our home country but it’s fun to check out other peoples’ cuisine too!
